From coastal walks to blow away the cobwebs to Exploria for children to burn of some of that excess energy to pearls of history including Southsea Castle, where King Henry VIII watched the Mary Rose sink in 1545.

You will also see on Clarence Esplanade LCT 7074, the last preserved Landing Craft Tank that took part in D-Day landing on Gold beach. The LCT 7074 forms part of a visit to The D-Day Story, the only UK museum dedicated to the momentous events of the 6 June 1944.

The museums collection features the personal stories of those that were involved with or who witnessed D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. One stand out item from the collection is Betty White's coat. Betty was a five-year-old who lived in Gosport. Passing troops on their way to embarkation point gave her their buttons and badges which her mother sewed onto her coat, which can be viewed at the museum.

There is also the Overlord Embroidery, inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry it is 83 metres long and features 34 hand stitched panels. It features the story of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. Commissioned by Lord Dulverton, it was designed by Sarah Lawrence and created by the prestigious Royal School of Needlework.
