Joe Sib has announced his debut UK one-man show at the Seven Dials Playhouse, London, on Fri 25 July. Titled California Calling, this truly personal show looks at life growing up in a Californian suburb during the 1980s, showing how music and punk rock shaped Joe’s future life.
The Los Angeles Times described the show as “a cross between theatre, touching memoir and a loogie in the eye”. Providing both moments of introspection & comedy, the performance is one that will connect with those that have been part of the alternative scene, love music or just want to enjoy some fantastic theatre!
Joe Sib is a comedian known for his witty and engaging stand-up performances. He incorporates his life experiences from growing up in California to being a former punk rock frontman in the bands WAX and 22 Jacks to his now current life as a father into his comedy routines.
Sib's style combines storytelling with observational humour, offering a unique perspective shaped by his diverse background in music and comedy. Both Drybar and 800 Pound Gorilla released comedy specials from him in 2023. One of the many highlights of his comedy career was the unique opportunity along with comedy legend Jim Breuer to be the opening act of the 2018-2019 Metallica tour which redefined the term “opening act”.
His performances are appreciated for their authenticity and humour that resonates with audiences who enjoy comedy with a fresh and honest perspective.
Joe also founded the record label Sideonedummy & signed bands like The Gaslight Anthem – his history & reach within the music world is vast. California Calling aims to bring to life why he has had such a strong & varied career in the industry with the story of his teenage youth and how that set him on his way.
The date at Seven Dials Playhouse marks his only Londin show before taking California Calling to Edinburgh Fringe, where he plays Gilded Balloon at Appleton Tower on Weds 30 July – Sun 24 Aug 2025
