If you were at Glastonbury festival you might have seen an interesting jukebox that grows flowers and gifts you with a seed. Now, after a wildly successful run at the festival, that very same nature-restoring jukebox has found a new home! This time it’s setting up a residency in collaboration with Brighton legend Fatboy Slim at the Big Beach Café, Hove Lagoon.
Southern and London Times recently attended a double celebration of Fatboy Slim’s 62nd birthday and the beginning of his summer residency at the Big Beach Cafe at Hove Lagoon. The centrepiece of this residency is Gen R’s nature jukebox- you pay for a tune and in return you don't just get to dance, you are helping restore the local seascape. As the owner of the Big Beach Cafe and a supporter of what Gen R do, he is more than delighted to host this fantastic scheme.
Gen R’s mission is to help restore nature while you dance so all money raised buying a track on the jukebox will be donated to Sussex Bay. A seascape recovery project on the mission to restore 100 miles of our local coastline. The Jukebox also gifts you with; as they have coined it; ‘A seed of hope for Sussex coastline’. A wildflower seed to take home and grow local flowers at home! Or if you don't fancy taking it home, plant it at the Big Beach Cafe.
You can find the jukebox from August until October at the Big Beach Cafe in Hove Lagoon, so if you fancy a beer and a boogie (and helping restore the local seascape) then head on down! Buy a tune. Have a dance. Restore the sea.
