Only Murders in the Building

Tue 9 Sept

Disney+

It’s another grisly crime and season 5 of this imaginative Emmy Award-nominated series.  Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez play a trio of amateur sleuths, who live in a building where no resident seems safe.

After their beloved doorman, Lester, dies under suspicious circumstances, Charles, Oliver, and Mabel refuse to believe it was an accident. Their investigation plunges them into the shadowy corners of New York and beyond — where the trio uncovers a dangerous web of secrets connecting powerful billionaires, old-school mobsters, and the mysterious residents of the Arconia. Soon they discover a deeper divide between the storied city they thought they knew, and the new New York evolving around them - one where the old mob fights to hold on as newer, even more dangerous players emerge.

The Girlfriend

Prime Video

Robin Wright, Olivia Cooke, Laurie Davidson, Waleed Zuaiter, and Tanya Moodie star in this promising-looking psychological thriller. Based on Michelle Frances' novel of the same name, The Girlfriend follows Laura (Wright), a woman who seemingly has it all: a glittering career, a loving husband, and her precious son, Daniel.

Her perfect life begins to unravel when Daniel brings home Cherry (Cooke), a girlfriend who changes everything. After a tense introduction, Laura becomes convinced Cherry is hiding something. Is she a manipulative social climber, or is Laura just paranoid? The truth is a matter of perspective.

Gen V

But parties and classes are hard to care about with war brewing between Humans and Supes, both on and off campus. The gang learns of a secret program that goes back to the founding of Godolkin University that may have larger implications than they realize. And, somehow, Marie is a part of it.

The Morning Show

Wed 17 Sept

Apple TV+

Here we go. It’s season 4 for a show that essentially placed Apple TV+ on the map. You should know the score by now, but for late adopters, let’s have a refresh. Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon star as the biggest news anchors in the game. It all seems pretty simple, apart from the fallout from a huge sexual harassment scandal, a pandemic, a suicide, hostile takeovers, constant editorial interference, and plenty of self-doubt. Throw in career-defining performances for both leads, and you’ve got a piece of must-see TV.

We catch up with the fictional TMS in spring 2024, almost two years after the events of last season. With the UBA-NBN merger complete, the newsroom must grapple with newfound responsibility, hidden motives, and the elusive nature of truth in an increasingly polarised America. In a world rife with deepfakes, conspiracy theories, and corporate cover-ups, who can you trust? And how can you know what’s actually real?

Hotel Costiera

Wed 24 Sept

Prime Video

This six-episode series, directed by Emmy Award winner Adam Bernstein and Giacomo Martelli, introduces us to Daniel De Luca (Jesse Williams), a half-Italian former US Marine who returns to Italy, the land of his childhood.

He’s got a job as a fixer in one of the world’s most luxurious hotels, located on the spectacular coastline of Positano. In addition to dealing with the hotel's wealthy guests’ problems, Daniel is also on the trail of Alice, one of the owner's daughters who disappeared a month earlier. Daniel must do everything he can to bring her home, but facing those who kidnapped the girl will be more challenging than any problem Daniel has ever faced.

Slow Horses

Wed 24 Sept

Apple TV+

How are they turning these seasons around so quickly? Sir Gary Oldman must be spending the majority of his year in that filthy raincoat. This darkly funny espionage drama follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5, due to their career-ending mistakes.

Led by their brilliant but irascible leader, the notorious Jackson Lamb, they navigate the espionage world’s smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces.

Season 5 ramps up quickly, with Slough House on lockdown. Deputy Director General, Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) suspects their tech specialist has something to do with the deaths of 11 people. It’s just another day in the office. So, this ragtag crew of useless agents must race against time to solve the case and defeat the sinister forces that are (yet again) threatening to destroy the country.

Brassic

Wed 25 Sept

Sky Max

The Brassic gang are gearing up for one last wild ride, as the much-anticipated seventh and final series sees Vinnie and the crew face their biggest challenge yet - clashing with old enemies, confronting long-lost family, and diving headfirst into chaos. It’s a fitting farewell that wraps up their legendary seven-series run in unforgettable Brassic style.

Joe Gilgun (Vinnie) is joined by returning cast Ryan Sampson (Tommo), Michelle Keegan (Erin), Aaron Heffernan (Ashley), Parth Thakerar (JJ), Joanna Higson (Sugar), Steve Evets (Jim) and Bhavna Limbachia (Meena) for another round of escapades, raucous adventure and mischief. As the series completes a milestone 50-episode run, this final chapter promises all the madness and mayhem fans have come to love — with a few surprises along the way.

House of Guinness

Thu 25 Sept

Netflix

House of Guinness explores an epic story, inspired by one of Europe's most famous and enduring dynasties - the Guinness Family. Set in 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story begopensins immediately after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man responsible for the extraordinary success of the Guinness brewery.

The far-reaching impact of his will soon has profound effects on the lives of his four adult children, Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben, as well as on a group of Dublin characters who work and interact with the phenomenon that is Guinness.

Wayward

Thu 25 Sept

Netflix

Created by Mae Martin (The Flight Attendant), this inter-generational mystery thriller takes shape from an idea they’ve had for years. It promises to be a wildly entertaining story that explores the complex and sometimes twisted relationship between teens and adults.

Nothing is what it seems in Tall Pines. After an escape attempt from an academy for “troubled teens", two students join forces with a newly local police officer, unearthing the town's dark and deeply rooted secrets.

The Savant

Fri 26 Sept

Apple TV+

The tense and thrilling series follows an undercover investigator known as The Savant.

This new limited series thriller stars Academy, SAG, Golden Globe, and Critics' Choice Award winner Jessica Chastain, alongside Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, and guest star Pablo Schreiber.

We are plunged into a shadowy world, where one woman infiltrates online hate groups in an effort to stop domestic extremists before they act.
