Spinal Tap II: The End Continues
Fri 12 Sept
“Rock an’ Roll!” Dust off your spandex, as Rob Reiner returns with the mockumentary that inspired an entire genre, and a few earnest rock bands. The original This Is Spinal Tap film was a joyfully funny examination of the excesses of your average touring metal band. Now, almost 50 years on, are they still the world’s loudest band? With a cast that includes music royalty like Paul McCartney and Elton John, John Michael Higgins, Harry Shearer, Michael McKean, and Paul Shaffer are playing like it’s their last ever show.
After a 15-year hiatus, acclaimed rockers David St. Hubbins, Nigel Tufnel, and Derek Smalls are drawn back together for one last concert. Documentary filmmaker Marty DiBergi returns to explore what the band members have been up to and immortalise the concert reunion. The film blends the same musical mayhem and satire that made the original a cult classic and features some fantastic rock cameos in the process. Will this concert be their triumphant return, or just another Stonehenge-sized catastrophe?
The Long Walk
Fri 12 Sept
From the highly anticipated adaptation of master storyteller Stephen King’s first-written novel, and Francis Lawrence, the visionary director of The Hunger Games franchise films (Catching Fire, Mockingjay – Pts. 1 & 2, and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), comes The Long Walk, an intense, chilling, and emotional thriller that challenges audiences to confront a haunting question: how far could you go?
Starring Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Charlie Plummer, and Ben Wang, with Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill, we’re transported to a dystopian United States ruled by a totalitarian regime. Agroup of young men enter an annual walking contest in which they must maintain a speed of at least three miles per hour or risk execution. The contest ends when only one walker remains alive.
